Men’s VL2 vs Werribee | 2-3 LOSS | M.Steen, J.Lawson
With the sun out at SHC pitch for our men’s 1’s who come out ready to play hard and mostly clean against Werribee.
Werribee were first to hit the score board with goal off a short corner.
We replied quickly with a goal of our own with a lovely pass from Jnr Hackett to Captain Fridge who ran it into circle and passed to a leading Wonka to deflect it over the keeper. “The crowd went wild!!”
Both teams went to the half time break with a goal a piece.
Second half started sun still shining; Werribee started off with a deflection goal. Again our boys answered quickly with a free hit awarded near the ‘D’. Spud Lawson stood up and took the free to pass across field to Jnr Hackett who rocketed the ball into the ‘D’ with Steeny coming in through for a deflection to put it top left hand corner of the goal.
Werribee got awarded a short corner to have them get their third and final goal that was a drag flick. Our boys kept trying to find the back of the net with minutes remaining but unfortunately time beat us. Bad luck boys.
Final score 3-2 to Werribee.
